Internet Transfers

As I frequently travel I use the internet banking from the Woolwich Openplan. Since the Woolwich went to Barclays I have had some problems in that they now restrict internet transfers to £2000. Recently I wanted to transfer just under £4000 to cover a holiday credit card bill but I had to set it up to be transferred in 2 parts. If I want to make a single payment I believe I can do so by calling the contact centre and requesting a BACS transfer for which the bank would charge me £35. Is this normal and is this fair as it is my money and I have complied with all the security measures to access my account. Thanks.

Hi Al Mac - no it is not a transfer to another account but a transfer/bill payment to a third party credit card provider and I cannot transfer/pay more than £2000 in one day.

I think perhaps they thought you wanted a 'same day' CHAPS transfer.

As Al Mac says, a standard (3-4 day) BACS transfer should be free - via telephone banking.
