oddly I was reading which mag in the library yesterday, and they did a test on balsam tissues. The top one was waitrose, then sainsburys and kleenex balsam. It pointed out that since you are meant to bin it straightaway, one use size tissues are probably better than big ones. HTH

My OH uses loads of mansize tissues as he has a problem with his sinuses. He always gets Morrisons ones and they're great.

I saw this article too. However balsam tissues are more expensive than ordinary ones and my poor Mum doesn't use them on her nose much but mainly to cough up the phlegm which collects in her lungs (sorry, I know it sounds awful but she has to or her lungs clog up due to her bronchiectasis disease - she's never smoked). She gets through a large box in a few days. The one use size are too small really but she's going to try the pocket packs recommended above - just means she'll be opening packs several times a day.

lisa26 Thanks for your recommendation. I'll certainly try the Morrisons ones next time I visit.

What about kitchen roll - that's usually fairly sturdy and if your mum isn't wiping her nose on it it won't matter if it's a bit rough
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

I think this would be too small in width and probably disintegrate. But I'll suggest she gives a stronger brand a try, thanks.

Thanks - she has tried this. Unfortunately phlegm is very sticky and she often has to wipe her tongue to remove the dregs. Kitchen paper made her tongue sore, otherwise this would have been a good idea.

Just need to find something similar strength and size but softer and preferably inexpensive. Might just be impossible but thanks everyone for making suggestions and any other ideas still welcome.

Sorry i knpw the post is a little old but i just had to have a say about these tissues from kleenex! I am hugely disapponted with the quality! I just bought a pack of 2x50 from tesco and the quality is seriously like 1ply and is very very rough!! Anyone know if i can send em back to kleenex?

I wrote to Customer Services at 1 Tower View, West Malling, Kent, ME19 4HA and asked why the quality of their tissues had declined so much compared to 6-12 months ago - using more recycled paper perhaps? Needless to say I didn't get a reply to the question but they did send me a voucher which could be used for a variety of Kimberley-Clark products eg. Andrex.
