I have been trying to pay off my overdraft slowly and been taking massive control of my finances, only now they are charging me £100 charges for 21 days at £5 over my overdraft. this was due to a direct debit rejecting not enough funds then £25 for it being rejected then £25 paid for another. I had tried to align all my direct debits for the 16th of each month as i get paid on the 15th but two I was not allowed to change so causing the problems.
Problem is I have £191.67 in my overdraft funds left. And i am literally trying not to spend, cheap food etc, no nights out and now I am faced with £100 going out on 3rd march so I will have literally nothing left by then I guess. Its a vicious circle. so just phoned them so they are putting complaint in and also messaged them online. I really don't want to use my credit card either as thats something I am trying to tackle after the overdraft.
Bet everyone has same problem. I am on the single and in debt thread and have already cut all my bills down.
At this rate I may have to even stop topping up my mobile altogether and get rid of it. Its three years old.

You need to learn the art of budgeting your money.
If you have 2 DDs going out before you get paid, you need to ensure you have enough money left in the account to cover them.
Don't claim that if you do that you won't have enough to buy any food with, because it really doesn't matter when the DD comes out of your account.
e.g. take a monthly income of say £500
You have 5 DDs to pay every month say £100, £70, £50, £50 £30
That means you have £300 you need to budget for to pay the DDs and £200 left over.
It doesn't matter if you pay the £300 immediately after payday, leaving you with £200,
or
you pay £300 the day before the next payday, you still only have £200 in that month left to spend on other things."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Yes I do make sure there is enough money in the account to budget. I get paid every 15th of the month. Two direct debits cannot be changed I have tried to change them.
I have around £200 left to spend on food, petrol and not going out.
When Iget paid the bank makes sure they debit two direct debits in the morning before crediting my account with my wage. Thats the problem thats causing the charges. I cannot change these dates at all.
But I will keep trying.
I have been budgeting really well for the last twenty years. I have a £46k mortgage and £2k on a credit card which I am paying off up and over the minimum payment.
I am trying really hard like others. I have one wage coming in and no fancy bills for sky etc. I have the basics.
Try living on £1000.17 each month and owning a house at the same time.
thankyou for your help.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230
