Cost? - Plastering, doors, skirting etc

Hi
Thinking of buying a house that needs a bit of redecoration etc. The rooms in the loft look like they might need a skim. Also the door edgings are a bit poor and the skirtings are rather small and basic. The house is 1960s so perhaps this is the style then (it's a purpose build loft rather than a conversion so I suspect those fittings are also 1960s).
Would it be easy enough for a joiner to redo the skirting and facings on the doors? Would that just be removing the bit that's in the bedroom and hall rather than the actual frame itself and re-facing it? I think it could look much nicer with that all renewed plus new doors. I live in a 40s house just now and mine are original but much better, bit surprising really! Maybe it was fashionable to have very small skirtings at that time.
What sort of cost would I be looking at for this type of work? Bedrooms are average size doubles, one is smallish (ie double bed but not space for 2 bedsides beside as it's narrower.
In Scotland, so fortunately not London prices.

Can't help you on price but yes small plain skirtings are normal for 1950's and 1960's houses. One thing to watch is whether you have sufficient space under electric sockets to add taller skirtings, but then if its 1960's you may need a rewire anyway!Adventure before Dementia!0

budgeting prices:
plastering say 200/300 per room.
joiner 200 per day plus materials.
the home styles changed after the war due to the rising cost of labour and materials.
and fashion. the clean space age look was the big thing. (usa/hollywood).
so cheap and cheerful skirtings etc came in. been with us ever since really.
look at any house in the last 50 yrs. virtually no major change in basic quality finish.
(kitchens excepted).Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks for the replies, that's helpful as a starting point.
Might have a look at doors, as they need replacing too, will try b&q website etc as a starting point.0
