Major problem with Kaspersky internet security 2010, anyone help??

Hi im wondering if any other Kasperky uses got this issue. But on my laptop i have Kaspersky internet security 2010 installed(well did have), but randomly and usually a few times a day the Kaspersky anti virus switches off randomly and a error comes up.

It seems to be connected to windows security centre, the kaspersky firewall & anti virus switches off in the windows security cnetre for about 5 seconds before switching back on. I get a windows error message flashing up and one from Kaspersky asking to send the details so they can fix it etc...

It's weird only recently happened, but happens everyday now, so had to change to another internet secuirty software. They are all fine, so obviously a Kaspersky problem with windows security centre.

Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to solve it as would like to go back to usuing Kaspersky.

  • I should add i have done 3 clean installs of Windows Vista and reinstalled Kaspersky several times still same problem.

Do you mean Kaspersky actually closes the AV, or it is reported by Windows Security Centre. The reason I ask is that in the beta version of KIS 2010 (but using Windows 7) this used to happen to me, but KIS was actually working (it is if the K is red), it was just a problem with Windows Security Centre reporting that it was not working. Its now okay for me on my desktop with Windows 7. I also have it running on a lptop with vista and thats working fine, except for an updating problem now resolved with the help of Kaspersky support.

Have you looked in the Kaspersky forum, as it's unlikely to be only you having the problem.

Also have you KIS support. I used them recently as mentioned above for another problem, and they were quite helpful. I used the telephone service first, and then they emailed me a link to a system info program, and I sent them the reports it produced. They then emailed me with suggestions which I tried and then replied by email. They responded straight away. When I used the online service last year they were poor at responding, so I found the telephone service much better.

This exactly whats happening to me, nothing actually stops in Kaspersky, i get no red alert saying fix problem, the issue is with windows security centre as you say, but it's annoying, and i do get a report error from Kaspersky itself and asking to send information, aswell as windows security centre error, but as i say nothing stops in Kaspersky itself.

Is very weird. Its annoying the error popping up and messages and makes comptuer very laggy.
  • The original release of KIS2010 was a bit flaky on some machines (and would not run properly at all on Windows 7). If you have version 9.0.0.463 then you can upgrade to 9.0.0.736 free and use your original licence key.

There are reports of KIS conflicting with a Windows Service (WMI) on the Kaspersky forums and a at least one person found that the update fixed it.

Worth a try - download it from here if you have the old version.
