Memory foam is great provided your sleeping posture is correct you will notice the difference. Personally, I have tried the Outlast cover but I recommend the Coolmax mattress cover. If your issue is you feel too hot at night then this will work great and its cheaper than Outlast. You can buy it at embracethechange.com

Outlast (and Climasmart) are far better than Coolmax.

Coolmax is a wicking fabric which just takes away the moisture, and so stops you feeling as clammy. Outlast and Climasmart actually help to stabilize the temperature.
  • After searching for hours on the internet, I was grateful to read someone with the same question as me. Does the Outlast mattress protector actually work? Please could 'bailey' or someone let me know. I lie on my bed and feel like I'm lying on an electric blanket, the heat keeps me awake. I'm so tired and I'm dreading the summer. This is a new bed which we paid a lot of money for, so there is no way we can change it yet! Hope you have some good news for me. Otherwise its back to the spare room again at 2am.
  • I have just placed my order Tim, thanks for your advice its appreciated!

    Did it solve your problem?
  • I now have a damp smell in my bedroom and I'm convinced its due to the memory foam mattress. Would it absorb body sweat and retain it? I would happily get rid of the thing but it has made a huge difference to OH and his back problems

Oh dear...have just paid a LOT of money for a Tempur mattress...It's being delivered Friday - hope we don't get the same problems...

However we've been using the Tempur pillows for a few nights now and they seem ok..crosed fingers!

Yes l'm afraid it would. If moisture is seeping into the mattress you need to air the bed to let it dry out, i.e pull back the covers when making the bed don't leave them covering the mattress where it's damp. Also, leave a window open a bit to air the room, l do both and haven't had a problem.

I know this thread is old but l've put a post on here about the same thing, we bought a memory foam bed at the beginning of the year and it's made me sweat terribly at night. :(

We've got a mattress cover too l can't remember what make but it won't let water through, it doesn't make any difference as to whether l sweat or not.

I'm convinced this memory foam is a con, l remember foam mattresses from the 70's and it was cheap stuff. :(

If l had the choice again l would never buy a memory foam bed, and yet they are very comfortable.

    Happy moneysaving all.

I had the same problem - but I find that a thin mattress protector and thick flanellette sheets help a lot! all easily washable and my memory foam mattress seems to work the same! I have to ask though - My OH seems to find the mattress more comfortable than I do! but he weighs twice as much! he seems to sink into it where I barely make a dent! anyone else find this?
forgot to say - my normal body temperature is a degree below normal.
  • I have goose feather bed mattress protector in my bedroom but till now I din't the same thing as you had. I bought it approx. 1 years ago and it is still in good conditions and I haven't get any need to buy other mattress protector to my bedroom.
