Just doing some research to check the prices of gas and electricity. But the usage I have is not recent and is from about 6months ago, the usage has changed as more people are under the same roof. Does it matter at all or can I use the figures from previously??

TIA

6m ago was last summer, so it won't very accurately reflect your annual usage, and it will exclude all your winter usage, which is where most of the cost is in terms of heating.
In other words, using a quarterly bill from last summer and multiplying by four will not give you an accurate annual estimate.

No, because the unit break points are different per tariff or supplier. And that would not take into account the discounts or standing charges.
Ring your existing suppliers and they will tell you your annual consumption.

Or you can work it out yourself from your bills - whether paper or online.

from the last change, we are paying

    electricity- no standring charge. first 181 unit per quarter (91days) @ 16.9p and 181+units @ 11.4p

    gas-no standing charge 1142 kw@ 4.3p and 1142+kwp is 3.24p

is this a good price or should i start looking elsewhere??

It depends on where you live. It depends on how much you use. And it depends on how you want to pay. Use a comparison site first to get an idea of the cost of the various suppliers and tariffs in your region.

You are correct that you will want to bump your expected annual consumptions up a bit.
