Does I close cards with zero balance?

Hi.
The majority of my cc card debt is on two cards now, both LOB transfers, one at 9%, one at 6%. I have 2 cards with a zero balance, and one card with £600 at 21%.
I have spoken to the 2 zero balance card companies, who say there are no balance transfer offers on my account at present, so should I close these accounts and try to get a deal elsewhere for the other £600, or leave them open in case I get a 0% offer from one of them?

Generally you will not get 0% deals from the CC you hold as they are used to attract new customers. Also, to take advantage of 0% deal you need to get hold of a card that does not belong to family of card on which you have £600. Consider also the total available credit to income and if by closing the cards you can improve that ratio, then you stand a better chance to getting a new card.

You can still get repeat 0% deals depending on who the cards are with, but you need to ask for them.

Just had a repeat 0% deal this month on an RBS backed Ulster card for 12 months with a 2.9% fee.

If OP can post back with the cards they're looking to cancel, can advise on whether they tend to offer repeat deals.
