hi im pregnant with my first baba (9wks) and im really eager to start using a product to prevent stretch marks. my mum and auntie suffered terribly with them whilst they were pregnant, and i developed loads during puberty on my boobs! maybe our family has really unstretchy skin!!

I hate to tell you, but it almost doesn't seem to matter a bit what you use if you're prone to them anyway. Genetics play a big part and I think if you had them pre-pregnancy, there's not a lot you can do to avoid them!
For what it's worth, despite using cocoa butter/vitamin e as recommended, I got them by 12 weeks and they're multiplying by the week! It can't hurt to get in a good moisturing routine anyway I'd say.0 -
oooh no that soooo wasnt what i wanted to hear lol! awk well if i get them i get them thats life i suppose, they'll be a nice wee reminder of the baby that was once in there lol! i just have a feeling that im going to be huge, im already developing a bump and im only nine weeks!!
will deffo try the cocoa butter anyway see if it helps!0 -
Afraid there is no escape if you are prone to them. I also got them in puberty, and then got them in pregnancy. People who swear by certain creams have wasted their time - they wouldn't have got stretch marks anyway!!
If you don't get them first pregnancy, you are unlikely to get them in subsequent pregnancies. And you don't tend to get any more if you had them during first pregnancy.
Hope you are feeling well. Stretch marks are not worth losing sleep over - there will be plenty of other things for that!!0 -
Hi, I heard bio oil was good for preventing and helping stretch marks, but that was only through the adverts not through word of mouth!
I too have stretch marks and I don't mind them at all. I think of them as a permanent reminder of what has caused them, bit like a map of my life. I think of my scars like this too, I have them on my back and stomach due to operations.
Don't get me wrong I would rather not have them but now that they are here I have learned to love/accept them
Also when I look at my son, I think it is a very small price to pay for such a miracle as him (and he drives me mad too at times).
Good luck with your pregnancy0 -
I hate to tell you this, but I used Bio Oil everyday, religiously and I have horrific stretch marks!
But my son is now three months old and they are starting to fade a lot, so hopefully they will eventually be much less noticable.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

I think some people are more prone than others to getting them.
There are plenty of women out there who would do anything to be in your position - so try and relax and enjoy your pregnancy and if you get stretch marks think on them as a lovely reminder of when you carried your baby...... they dont stay dark red for ever mine have faded to silvery lines and are no longer too noticable.0 -
I used bio oil and cocoa butter like 6 times a day and I have no stretch marks what so ever. I was lucky though, I never showed I was pregnant until I was 6 months and only gained a stone.
My mum on the other hand is covered in them.
At the end of the day, stretch marks are a sign of pregnancy, cherish them.0 -
If your going to get them there is nothing you can do!!
Be proud of them, it shows you have a gorgeous bundle of joy at the end of it!:xmastree: :rudolf: :xmastree:0 -
Ive heard that if you buy those Vitamin E capsules, that you are meant to swallow, and pierce it with a needle and rub those directly onto the skin that should help. They will be more concentrated than a cream with vitamin E already in.0

I heard omega 3 oil capsuals can help, never had the chance to try tho....
I know that for me, bio oil helps my scars heal much faster, I have very slow to heal scars (think its as my skin is so pale) one example is the blood tests I had done back in Sept/Oct, I forgot completely about bio oil- its so long since I've had my skin broken by anything. I still have such big pink/red marks on my skin that I look like a drug user! Someone else at my gym asked if I was diabetic or had just recently had blood tests and I'm like "noooo, it was over 6 months ago!" I have other marks in the past where if I use Bio oil, they improve very much faster; days or weeks rather then months.
Maybe worth a try if nothing else? if you are going to moisturise the area anyway, why not? it does seem to last quite well too, I'm still on my first pot which I got about 3 years ago- use sparingly or it just rolls off your skin though.0
