If your moneysaving presumably because someone has been made redundant, question if you really need to hire again.
Then, tell us what area your in. There are lots of local hire companies who are cheaper than the big national ones who I'm sure your aware of (Avis, Hertz etc...)0 -
We really Do need to hire which is a nightmare, but if I took my car then 1) I need breakdown cover and 2) I need the exhaust fixing as its blowing and its not that safe IMHO.
If I hire a car 1) we are not so crammed in 2) we ger air con 3) I dont have to pay out the aove expenses straight away.
my car is just not up to the job...

Funnily enough, I was just looking on the forum to see if anybody had offered any suggestions to cheap car hire!
I've spent most of today trawling through various websites trying to find cheap car hire for a weekend myself. Some of the best deals I could find were through www.easycar.com.
However, the best deal I ended up going with was through a link from my nearest airport's homepage - in this case Stansted. The link is for Europcar, and gives you 22% off all Europcar rentals!
Here is the link, although this may change periodically. If it doesn't work, click on 'Hire A Car', from www.stanstedairport.com.
Hope this helps!
