Buying a new car

Options
I am looking to buy a new car (a volvo C30), and want a bit of advice on haggling.
My old car is on its last legs, and is only worth about £300 to trade in, but the scrappage offer it's worth £4800 with the dealer.

Should I be pushing for any more discounts on top of that?
Will different dealers play each other off?

Also the salesman told me that Volvo are finishing the scrappage on the 25th Feb, although there is no mention of this on the Volvo website, is the salesman just trying to push for a sale?

Thanks for any advice

I was in a Volvo dealers yesterday. My car isn't quite old enough for scrappage. I like the V50-but, the prices! Sorry, no help to you I'm afraid.

I'd start by looking at the prices on the broker websites.
  • I looked on the broker sites, and they all seem to say that the scrappage allowance doesn't apply to the cars they are selling.

Is the dealer likely to discount any further? After all the price of the car is being discounted by the manufacturer not the dealer
