Where is best value breadflour from?

Question for all you breadmakers out there
I have recently bought a panny and have so far made 3 loaves of bread which I am delighted with :j
However my other half is grumbling abit about how much it cost , so I want to make it pay for itself as quick as possible.
We go through a loaf a day and I also intend to do fruit loaf a couple of times a week (for breakfasts and kids snacks). Also I will have a go at making chiabatta and pizza.
So I think it will pay for iteslf within 4 - 6 months. We used to pay £1 for a loaf.
I have already bought loads of hovis yeast as it is on offer in tesco for 39p.
But where is the cheapest good flour from??? - I think we will be using a mix of white and wholemeal as I love granary but the flour looks expensive.
Also has anyone worked out how much the electricity is likely to cost - so I can account for that in my sums.
Thanks, from a very excited new breadmaker :rotfl:

Try the Dove's Farm orange packet of yeast, it's the cheapest I think and lasts for ages and I've always had great results.

I use Morrisons strong bread flour which is around 70p a pack for white, wholemeal is more. Tesco own yeast is as good as Hovis but a bit cheaper. Asda used to do a 3kg bag of Hovis flour which was good value but not sure they still do! Enjoy your breadmaker, I wouldnt be without ours now!:T Thanks to all posters!!:j0

I found the Morrisons strong flour awful, it's the only one that hasn't made such a good loaf, was spongey and collapsible! The Morrisons organic strong flour though was much better, but for a own brand normal level flour, Sainsbury's Strong was much better.0 -
So mixed reviews then for the Morrisons. So far I have used both sainsburys and tescos and found they have been good.
I will have a look in asda and see if they still do bigger packs.
I made the easy chiabatta recipe in the panny book last night-although it is not really like chiabatta it is absolutely delicious!
And when I got back from the school run I was greeted with the smell of fresh bread - loving it :j0 -
I have a Panasonic breadmaker too and my family all love the french loaf. I use Tesco's own brand or Hovis flour and Dove yeast.
My son is at university and they made a loaf the old fashioned way with Tesco's value plain flour and it seemed to work ok. Not so sure about the shape though. It was a bit erm rude. I don't think I would recommend value flour for a breadmaker though. I think it took ages for it to rise. I might experiment one day though and find out what it comes out like.0 -

Cheers for the heads up on that! I've seen that around the shop but I've never been sure how well it works in a breadmaker.0 -
Lidl sell a bread flour, but I don't know the price. All of their stuff is of good quality so it may be worth a try if there is a Lidl near you.0
