How do I access recovery partition on toshiba l300 laptop?

Hi folks,
A friends laptop wont start properly. Windows vistta starts to load but then the dreaded blue screen. Have tried safe mode and last known good configuration but no good.
It was bought from toys r' us in dec 08. Friend hasn't got any recovery cd's.
How do I access the recovery partition on this laptop at bootup? Hope someone might know the answer. I think f2 is for the bios.

Well an update on this. The recovery option doesn't work. I have to enter the serial number of the laptop to get the recovery dvd's from Toshiba but unfortunately through usage (Laptop on peoples lap) both the serail number and even windows vista product key have rubbled off the bottom of the laptop.
Maybe if someone could give me the brand of the motherboard in the Toshiba satellite l300 and also what wirless network card is installed there (they really only use it for internet) I can install a unused copy of windows xp I have lying around.
