I have the Account numbers, dates and policies here at home what i was wondering was if they dont hold them anymore would that affect my chances of making a claim as one goes back to 2001 and they were all paid off years early and one was absorbed into my mortgage.

I had one bank loan with PPI and had the agreement, date etc BUT because I settled early and the bank had no records of the actual settlement (they said!!) this was one of my 4 that could not be upheld at FOS. They said if I had the details of the settlement then they would consider but as I did not it was not dealt with.

Forgot to add in my above post, normally SAR requests only goes back as far as the last 5/6 years, but sometimes they will send if they still have hold of the information - from earlier years, however, if any of the finances are still active they will or should still hold the majority of the information.;)

Can I just ask, does the 6 years mean from when a loan/account was settled or when it was first agreed?

    Regards

    Graham

Sorry for not getting back sooner Graham.
With SAR requests they vary, depending on the bank itself, although they do say the last 6 years up to the date now, one of mine from last year I requested, I also received info going back into the late 90's.;)

  • Hi Irene,

I claimed PPI from a loan I had back in 2001. As it didn't finish until 2003 (claimed last year), I was still entitled to claim. After going to FOS, I was awarded the full amount and 8% dating back to 2001. The interest alone I got was £1500!
Also I'm now claiming for Egg PPI for a loan in 2000. This is now also with FOS. On both occasions, both companies still had my paperwork even though it's well over the 6 years retention period.
On both occasions when requesting paperwork, I could only give them what I thought my monthly payment was and the original loan amount, this was enough to get the paperwork. So don't lose hope and good luck.
