Cant get a credit card!

I want to transfer a balance as we have balances on 3 cards atm want them in 1 place so the payments are manageable but we cant get a card! Weve been declined Virgin, Barclaycard, Halifax, HSBC, Post Office, Egg, Play, Amazon, Alliance and Leicester, Tesco, Santander!

I got accepted for nationwide but they wont allow me to transfer amex which is where the majority of our balance is

Does anyone know of a card that we could try? I assume weve a poor credit rating

If nothing else, you are going to have absolutely ruined your score by making so many applications recently.

You need to not apply for anything credit scored (card, bank account, mobile phone, insurance, mortgage) whatsoever for six months or thereabouts before any lender is likely to take you seriously.

All the recent searches will put lenders off because you are demonstrating having a desperation for credit. Just gotta wait it out ;)

I totally agree with the above poster, you probably have done more damage than good to your credit rating.

Could you phone AMEX and ask them if they have any deals for existing customers, they could only say no, nothing to lose.
  • Who are your "3" cards with?

Perhaps in the meantime transfer the 2 that you can't move to the nationwide and close them once done.

Then in a min of 6 months, look at a new place to shift to - you will have a card less then and managed to rebuild your CR?

  • If you are ok to, it may be worthwhile posting what you have on all cards inc the rate and the limit on the NW card - perhaps someone can help you with what you curerntly have?

It may help knowing what companies are what before applying again! You've just made 3 applications to MBNA (Virgin, Play, Amazon) and with HSBC you need to be banking with them and have a high enough behaviour score, A&L is the same as Santander isn't it? So that's two with them too - if not, it was previously MBNA so could be 4 app's to them!

Basically you can only make one app to the same firm usually, within any 6 month period. Calm down applying or you'll get nothing accepted.

    6 searches in 6 months is the norm, 13 a year. :D

Also, not all card providers allow an Amex BT (usually it is super BT) - unless things have changed?

If you have 3 cards to transfer and none of the other lenders wil touch you, it is almost certain, that if one does accept you, that the limits will not be anywhere near enough to make it worthwhile anyway.
