Try telling that to the millions of extra unemployed under the last 2 Conservative administrations.
Not all of them were Unionised, militant Durham miners either, you know.0 -

Thanks for the history lesson. I could point you in the direction of 1979 when the Country's finances were in an equally appaling state under a Labour Govt.
Also, try telling the 2.5million currently unemployed that they can expect another 5 years of New Labour?0 -
There`s no doubt the Tories will win the election BUT don`t expect to be any better off.
They all come in promising the earth and then generally make an a*se of things.
Labour has turned sour after 13 years and now it looks like we`ll be stuck with the Tories for a couple of terms.
Lot to be said for emigrating.0 -
Tories since Thatcher have not been interested in society and the welfare of the people at the society, community and family level. Their basic tenet which seems to be something a Tory is genetically predisposed to is, what can an individual get for him/herself. This is an absolute disaster for British communities throughout the land. Anyone that can't see the ill effects of such self gratification can't see them because he/she is an egocentric personality type and, by definition egocentrics only care about themselves thus being totally blind to the damage they are doing to society. Unfortunately labour have moved more in this direction than their ethos should allow and to me this is another disaster. Since the eighties people have lost the sense of community and fairness, Tony Blair picked up on this and gave a mis-directed generation what they wanted. Now they are moaning that they got what they wanted.
The other curious thing that the Tories keep quiet about is the equally sick capitalists in the US (their ideological gurus) who sold their junk to banks and financial institutions throughout the world for a profit and put their weaker members of society on the sidewalk. Are we so sickly brainwashed to want the system that goes from one con to another, one ponzi scheme to another.0 -

Couldn't agree more.
Imagine just for a second, someone local, who cares about the people in their community and does stuff to make sure that everyone is okay and able to live their life. They would have their own opinions, which you may not agree with, but at least they can speak their mind and not be tied to a party. Be lovely, wouldn't it?0 -

There won't be enough of him to go around so many pockets. I don't think it is viable.0 -

Limit the time they can serve their constituents to say one parliament. That alone would save millions nationwide in pension contributions to their obsenely high pensions.
What is worse than a party politician voting AGAINST the interests of the people they serve, its perverse really.
At the moment I have very little will to vote, knowing that if I do it will make no difference whatsoever.I have always voted and have critisized people who didn't bother.0 -
I voted in 1997 just to get the Tories out then realised that Tony is a Tory and never voted again.
The problem is you can't have too many opinions when trying to run a country. We have to swallow some bad decisions as a price for running the country more smoothly.0 -

.
How does that work? won't the next incumbent receive pension contributions?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0
