2nd hand computer software

I recently purchased 2nd hand a PC game. This game has to be registered via the internet, which isnt an option, and is clearly marked. The registration failed due to it being being registered to a previous owner. I did try to prove new ownership via their verification procedure and was told that they won't de-register and allow it's use on my account because it's 2nd hand.

I am wondering are they allowed to do this ?

I don't have a problem returning the software having agreed the return with the seller.

Yes they are allowed to do, i believe its down to each individual developer if they put that option into the game. This is why i wouldnt buy second pc games if i did play pc games

Just ask the seller for the details.
Once you have them they can then be changed anyway.
  • The seller tried from his end and was met with the same response.

Typically when you buy a software disc you're not really buying ownership of the contents, but instead a "non-transferable licence" to use the contents.

So in theory you're not allowed to sell it, even if there is no 'blocker software' on it!!!
