On the 22nd of December 2009 I parked on a private Pay & display as the the spaces were full I parked in a yellow box causing no obstruction to anyone and displayed my parking ticket plus blue badge , this morning 20th February 2010 I recieved a letter from Roxburghe debt collectors claiming £197.00 stating that I had not paid the £50 fine for parking in an area other than the white lines. I never had a ticket put on my windscreen or recieved an invoice from Elite management ltd this debt collectors letter came as a complete shock. WHAT SHOULD i DO?

Do not pay them a penny
Do not communicate with them in any way
Ignore all letters
Eventually they will go away
See here for the sort of letters you can expect:

It's not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Do not contact them, do not pay them. Roxburghe are debt collectors NOT bailiffs. They rely on their victims not knowing the difference. After Roxburghe you will get two letters from "Graham White Solicitors", aka M. Sobell. If you ignore these they will crawl back to the bottom of their pond and leave you alone.0

You won't get into trouble. I can appreciate your point of view, my dad felt exactly the same when he got a "ticket" for forgetting to display his blue badge at Sainsburys. Remember these parking companies are scum and they see you as an easy target. Thats why they make their letters look "official". If you are at all worried by any letters you receive then please post here for reassurance.0 -
Have no fear.
Some reading of the many entries here about these companies should serve to assuage your doubts.
It is sad but not everyone is honest, decent and upstanding. I suspect our new poster is honest, decent and upstanding. As such he, or she, is a primary target for these companies and we should do our best to reassure and assist in all such threads.0
