HDMI Cable.

Do cheap HDMI cables do the same job as the dearer one's? I have seen the price of them from as cheap as a couple of pounds to as much as £70.00 +. Is there any difference or do you pay for what you get? It's for adding an Xbox onto an HD Tv.

Many thanks

Only difference is if they are gold plated.
  • Don't waste your money and get a cheap one, especially if you won't be constantly plugging/unplugging it.
Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

Many thanks for the quick replies. What does gold plated make it do that others don't?
  • Nothing. Gold plated is there for a better low resistance connection, but in practise makes no real difference.

  • Cost more.

I bought a 1metre one from Amazon for connecting the Xbox to the TV. It cost me 80p delivered, arrived in 2 days and does the job. High velocity spatter on MW2 now looks even better in HD lol.

The gold plating probably means that it is less compatible with the socket that it fit's in to, which will be nickel plated, cheaper cables have nickel plating so it could be argued that they are actually better.
