Who's responsible for funeral etc

Can anyone tell me the responsibilites of my husband and his 3 siblings when anything happens to their mother.

My husband is the eldest but she has his sister on the bank account. Dont get me wrong we dont want anything but also dont want my hustband to end up being the sole person responsible for any of the debts/funeral expenses

Anyone can be responsible, whoever arranges things with the funeral director is responsible. IIRC

In this case, I would say it will be the sister who is has access to the bank account. The funeral is usually paid for from the estate of the deceased so it would be much easier for her to deal with it.

agree with mojisola - in most cases the funeral costs come out of the deceaseds estate and as the sister has access to bank account logically she should take care of the arrangements.
why doesnt your OH just ask his sis?

The funeral is paid for from the deceased estate, however, whoever arranges the funeral with the funeral directors will be liable for payment so make sure it is his sister who does this as she has access to the bank account.
