Hi over a week ago we had a strange smell within the house particularly near the fuse boxes we thought. We rang for an electrician who checked everything through out, then checked the outside meter which seemed was the fault. Connecting wires appeared burn't & discoloured & the same smell was in there. We rang the electricity board who also spoke with the electrician. Someone came out the same day & it was sorted. I didn't check myself at the time because the meter had only just been read the previous day by someone & I assumed they would have noticed something wrong?
I was just wondering seeing how it was the electricity company's fault could I claim back off them the cost of the electrician? Or would they say it was my choice to have the electrican out? I would have still called out an electrician just to check everything inside as well though for peace of mind.
Appreciate any advice

Thx

Probably not. It would have been best to call the electricity company first and get them out to check things over.
