Are you in the clear with them now because if not they may do the same next month.Can you get your card cancelled and a new one issued?If you are in the clear have you family who could help you out for the nxt fortnight with food etc and at least they'll be off your back.Its a horrible situation,its awful they've left you with nothing.

I would agree with GeorgeUK, it is an unauthorised transaction. You gave permission to pay £20 a month, to take £250 is against your agreement to pay.

The problem with payday loans is interest, if you owe £500, and only pay £10 a week, after a few months, you will owe over £1000. You need to clear the balance asap, usually credit unions can help in this area.

Have you tried calling cash genie to see why they took the money without your permission? What have they said about it?

I have rung Cash Genie, they said they have every right to take it as it is their money and there is nothing I can do about it...

I am so infuriated...

Anyway, does anybody know if this would mean I could apply for a crisis loan?

I literally have no money for food because of this, my phone has been cut off, I am back to living with my dad, who makes me pay for food etc..?

I have heard they just take the money back from JS benefit?

I suppose the worst they can do is say no if you apply.

I would also post this on the consumeractiongroup forum t osee if they think this is an unauthorised withdrawal and if you may have any comeback.

You should be able to get a crisis loan from the social fund - you'll have to pay it back out of your benefit over an agreed number of weeks.

Your local job centre plus should be able to advise.

Unless stated in the terms of your agreement you allow them to take any amount of money at any date via a card transaction without prior warning, then no they aren't allowed to do it.

PayDay loans are risks, this is why they usually hold a guarantee cheque in case you don'y pay, they cash the cheque, as that is a right you give them via a cheque, not a card.
If Play.com took £500 out my bank account via a card purchase i didn't make, i would not let them get away with it.
Card transactions are either recurring fee or one off i believe, but as GeorgeUK says consumeractiongroup forums (cag) are very good in this area.

I have just looked into my account & realised that cash genie have cleared it . I have spoken to them & all I got was abuse & they refuse to refund my money. I have been left with nothing this month & can't pay my bills & buy food.

I am not on benefits so I can't claim anything:mad:
