Hi all,
I never realised there was a Gas and Electric forum here!
We've been with EDF for quite some time on the following rate:
Electric:
First xxx at 17.360p
Next xxx at 11.790p
Gas:
Oct - Jan
First xxx at 3.984p
Next xxx at 2.505p
Jan - Feb
First xxx at 7.00p
Next xxx at 3.056p
Is this expensive/cheap/reasonable do anyone know?
Thanks

Why not try the comparison sites (such as uswitch, energyhelpline etc)? That would be quicker and you may get a useful reply.0

Impossible to tell from unit rates alone as they are pretty much meaningless without some idea of usage, even then the unit rates are only half the story because you have to factor in discounts as well.
As Kim said, use a comparison site and enter your Kwh usage for a year (EDF will be able to give you this if you dont have it) and see what comes up.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Why has your gas rate changed for jan/feb?
Your electric looks high my edf rate on prepay is 16p per day standing charge and 11.01p unit flat rate0 -
Without knowing what xxx is, what annual usage is in kWh and what area you are supplied in, it's difficult to say.
As a very rough guide, I'd say the electric was average for a pay on receipt of bill tariff, and recent gas charges are probably quite high ... but prior to Jan they were reasonable.
But what you don't include is any discounts you may also receive - unit prices are often only half the story..
As others have said, use a couple of the comparison sites in the resource bar above to find yourself a cracking deal."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Thanks guys,
Will look at suggestions,0 -

That looks like the mixture of EDF's core prices for the SWEB region but with a seasonal off peak meter. As you have the seasonal off peak switching sites won't be of much use (they won't cater for your meter).
It is an expensive tariff unless you are a heavy gas user over the winter. The winter gas rate is one of the cheapest around (if not the cheapest)and EDF's core gas isn't that bad for the rest of the year. The elec is expensive enough on its own to warrant getting that from another supplier and forgoing your DF discount (the DF discount is only £8.40).0
