Just a small bit of info. If you have a broken work record, as money women do if theyhave had kids etc, your State Pension may be affected.
If you go to www.direct.gov.uk , go to Pensions and select 'pension forecast' you will then be invited to get your 'Government Gateway' User ID.
Register, and they will send you a User ID online and by post.
A few days later you will get your 'Activation Code' in the post ( a bit like PIN Number) and this will allow you to make specific enquiries using your own Tax records etc via the Pensions Service and get a Pension Forecast.

For e.g. Mrs P is 2 years short of a Full Pension Record. To bringit uo to date would cost over £1000....but it would only make £6 a week difference to th Pension. Hardly worth it I think.

She'd make the money back in less than 4 years. Where you'd need to be looking is if that extra money would deny her some benefit or other - then it's not worth doing.

  • SRM - Cala Bona, the one right on the shoreline. It still sounds a little bit British but as it's May it should be quiet and we normally find a little local bar tucked away we end up using.

Its a bit of a faff, but useful.
If someone has a gappy NI record due to having kids etc then they should be covered by 'home responsibilities protection' so long as they were receiving child benefit, and they would get credits to make up the shortfall for that time.

Check it out though as that's come from the top of my head in between doing housework so don't quote me.. lol

I shall enslave you to do my housework instead of killing you

The problem with the hotel is we paid our friends as they have hired out the whole castle (a castle room *sob*) so I have not paid the venue myself. I'm therefore not sure I can ring the hotel about it.
