I've not flown with Emirates, but i've heard they are a fantastic airline, especially for those travelling first class.

But alas they are not the 'best'. Apparently that award goes to Singapore Airlines. Apparently they are streets ahead of everyone else... Dunno if they fly the route you want though but it's worth a look!

I'm sure many, many people have flown Emirates. I've flown with them to Thailand. If you get their new planes with AVOD, you will be sorted. Econ is fine. I had good service. Have a look at airlinequality.net for more info.

We flew Emitares from BHX to Brisbane and were very happy with everything. As posted above, however, some planes are 'newer' than others. The newest ones have the multi-channel entertainment systems in economy. 'Hundreds' of channels.

The best thing for us was the three-sector schedule. BHX-Dubai-Singapore-Brisbane. Each sector was 7-8 hours. Much better than a 12-13 hour sector through Hong Kong.

Really pleased to hear positive posts about Emirates. I am flying with them to Nairobi next month and returning via Dubai - staying there for 4 nights. I also think I got a great deal with all inclusive of 4* plus hotel on bb basis and transfers in Dubai for £547!:D Now just have to find cheap travel insurance for two.

The beauty of the in flight entertainment system on the newer planes is that you can start the film/program/whatever when you want, ie on demand you don’t have to wait for it to start you start it when you want. Only flown with them twice i.e. there and back and the return trip was an older aircraft without the on demand entertainment so not quite as good but still more than okay.

I agree with the above but look out for flights using Sri Lankan Airlines which codeshare with Emirates and are in fact owned by them - Service and aircraft quality was a lot poorer when I flew with them a couple of months ago.

BTW - was checking out flight details last week on their site and found that there online prices were considerably higher than using an agent.

I flew round trip from Glasgow to Dubai......excellent airline.
Even the food was pretty good for airline grub (we are veggies) and nothing was too much trouble. If you have any special dietary requirements...book via the airline before you go...and you also get served first!!!
    Enjoy!
