Ive just bought a 98 corsa for my daughter for £650 in mint condition with only 48,000 mile on clock it has alloys but were factory fitter she is 19 has been driving for just over a year now and insurance was £606 via the post office I used confused.com for the quote. Brilliant. Ok so we got the car from someone we knew personally but there is a huge difference and the people we got it from wouldnt have done themselves out of any money they got the price for the car from autotrader.co.uk I would suggest you have a look.0

I had a corsa it was very reliable and I have passed it on to my daughter who still says it runs very well with no problems..
You will take your chances with any second hand car and the one you post has a full service history and cd player, so its missing a few bits and bobs , chances are the one you learnt in was fairly new which if you could afford it would be ideal but if you have to settle for an older model then you won't get any extras..... I'd take a look at the corsa and try to take a more nowledgeable person with you and see for your selves......

If your budget can stretch a little more, about £2000+ or so then I would recommend looking at a toyota yaris as it's a better car that will last you longer and lesser repair bills than the corsa. The corsa is a fine first car if you can pick up a well look after example.
Alternatively look into the pug206 as usually they have all the mod cons include air con on them, I also think they are better looking than the corsa. The toyota yaris is better of the lot if you can afford it.
Take your time on whatever car you choose and ebay is a good route as you can get better prices than the autotraders etc. I bought two cars from ebay and they were cheaper than the paper adverts, one was £500 cheaper and the other was £1000 cheaper. Goodluck with your search.0 -
Corsa is certasinly an OK first car, with reasonable street cred too!
Certainly power steering is desired, but don't worry too much about air bags - you won't need them often!!
Problem with all these lower insurance group models, this does tend to make them more pricey.
Isn't there a local trader advertising in the newspaper near you that might specialize in this end of the market. We've a couple that only sell Fiestas/Corsas fo £500 - £2000. Beds / Herts area (no connection with them from me)
