Any ideas what to tell my son to say (12) if he picks up the phone to them when I'm not about? (I guess they get the nmbr for the address out of phone book)

Try this thread for inspiration ;)

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Paul, Excel at the Peel Centre are well known for their bullyboy tactics and have been subject to much local press. Its about time the powers that be in Stockport did something about these robbers (they probably just add the charges to their expenses) hope you hear no more from them its a stress you dont need

true, however my point being, if they dont have enough evidence on that then you will know you have an upper hand to win the appeal, then you can ignore it with ease.

It is more of psychological thing when it deals with thing like that , the stress and the pressure, people are tended to give in because of the stress, whereas if you know you are not on the wrong side then it at less make you feel much better :A:A

    Appeal ?

This is not a council PCN, what are you talking about ?

I do remember quite a bit of press about it. I can't imagine Stockport councillors can/will do anything - it's probably good prime taxable land.
I guess people should vote with their feet, but I don't think that's happened in any great nmbrs. I've noticed the attendance at this site had declined a little bit, and others in the area that are free (Cheadle) are fairing much better now.

If we're mentioning the council, we should probably mention the shops, who know this goes on - they could also vote with their feet.
Toys r Us, Next, Argos, Currys, PC WORLD, Boots, JD Sports....and on and on...

You could open a whole new section regarding Stockport Council Paul under the heading "Gross incompetence at a high price"

Quick update - it's been nearly 6 months since the initial ticket.
Ignored everything I've had through the post (except the initial ticket, which I should have ignored, then they would have had to pay for my details, but I didn't know at that stage) as suggested here and on watchdog.
Roxburough letter (only one) turned into Graham White solicitors letters, of which there were two in 1 week, since then, nothing. It's been about a month now with no letters. For the last 6 months they've been suggesting that they'd take me to court if I didn't reply to the next, and obviously, I've never been.

Apparently there is a proper solicitors called Graham White, which have absolutely nothing to do with these people.
    Bloody rip off.
    So glad I ignored!

thing is, knowing 'parking invoices' cant be enforced, why even bother paying for a ticket? (unless its council parking, obviously)

that way excuses (check threads for some whoppers) arent needed.
Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,000

Actually, I think it's fair to ask for a nominal fee to park. This particular place asked for 50p to park - and although some places don't charge, it's their right to ask for some money to upkeep the car park.
The problem is that they're ripping people off on 'invoices', both financially and emotionally. If it was all dealt with in a fairer manner, I'm sure everyone would just buy a ticket for a few pence for a couple of hours parking.
Also, big companies, like Mothercare, Comet, B&Q, etc are supporting this by accepting that the landlords use these cowboys on their land.
How quickly would they change their mind if the companies got together and told the landlords that they wouldn't accept excel et al working on their carparks. There's not even a problem with limited spaces at the places I stay.
One thing to say though, there's a newer annex at the Peel Centre in Stockport, with Currys and PC world on. Although it's attached, the car parks are vaguely separated, and that one is free for a ticket (you still have to remember to get one, and Excel still regulate it) - so I wonder if the Dixons group have done just that?
