Suspension

Hi guys
I used to have another account a few months ago apart from my main account. I got suspended on this one due to a breaking a rule about compilation CD's I had sold with pictures on.
I thought fair enough and carried on with my other account just selling normal things. Last night I had this email and my main account has been suspended.
We regret to inform you that your account has been suspended for up to 12 months for breach of the following policy:
- Previously suspended user. You hold at least one other eBay account which is currently suspended.
Members with suspended accounts are prohibited from using eBay in any way, including registering new accounts. We have found your account to be associated with the following suspended account:
[CSR INSERT USER ID HERE]
Here's what you should do now:
Please write to us from the registered email address for the suspended account to appeal the original suspension.
If you don't have access to the registered email address for the suspended account, let us know by replying to this message.
Please be advised that this suspension does not relieve you of your obligation to pay any fees that you may owe to eBay.
This made furious because
a) Why have they sent this me 2 months later
b) I set up my original account before the new one so how can I be suspended for that
c) The CSR (Customer service resprenstive) hasn't done their job here as this is obviously a template and they haven't filled in the userid
d) If I reply back to this email it bounces back and tells me to send it through the portal!
e) It doesn't say how long the suspension is!
Anyone else had this and any advice?

Unfortunately, you have broken ebay rules. You can have as many accounts as you like. However, if one account is suspended, you're not allowed to use any other accounts to use ebay. It doesn't matter when you registered the other account you were using - you can't use it, or register with a new one (that's what " Members with suspended accounts are prohibited from using eBay in any way, including registering new accounts." means).
At the end of the day, you were caught for breaking ebay rules. You shouldn't have been using your other account. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but dems da rulez! In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

MyUsrNamesTaken has it spot on.
You were suspended on the first account and as it was a minor breach and depending on how many other warnings you had receved on the account, you would probably have got the account back within a month.
However, compounding that suspension by breaking yet another ebay rule means you've just waved goodbye to ebay for a long while.
The second account was almost certainly reported by another user, that means that if you were foolish enough to try and reregister, and compound the breaches, you will probably get caught again and your years ban will be made permanent.
If you are interested you might find the 'gutted' thread on this forum of use as it is discussing a suspension and it did stray onto the inadvisability of using a second account.

yeah. I think thats what linked them. But I don't think its fair that one gets suspended and then the other one does 2 months later when nothing has happened to the first one at all.0

Ebay policy (see link in my earlier post) is that if you're suspended, you can't use ebay... full stop. You must wait until unsuspended or face the wrath of fleabay.
Fair or not, it's in their T&Cs, which you have agreed to abide by.My TV is broken!

Try appealing the original suspension, as they suggest. If that's cleared, then I presume you'll be unsuspended?0

Here's what ebay say (they still haven't bothered to say which other account it was btw). Obviously I am the same person but live help don't talk about suspensions and that. Anyway to avoid going round in circles?
Hello,
Thank you for your email. In order to assist you as quickly as possible,
we are providing you with an automated response regarding the suspension
of your account.
Your account has been suspended due to similarities between your account
information and that of a previously suspended eBay member. Suspended
members are not allowed to register new accounts or continue to use
existing accounts, so your account has been suspended as a precaution.
We can't tell you exactly what information the two accounts share. By
revealing how we became aware that a suspended member was using eBay, we
could help members intent on breaching the policy to avoid detection.
Here's what you should do now:
Please send us copies of BOTH of the following so we can verify that you
are not the previously suspended member:
- government-issued photo identification (passport or driver's licence)
- proof of address (bank statement or utility bill)
You must send us PHOTOCOPIES, not originals. Clearly print your User ID
on both documents so we can quickly match them with your account.
Please send these documents to the fax number or postal address below.

To get your documents to us here in Ireland as quickly as possible,
please ensure you pay the correct postage.
Please be assured that eBay treats your personal information with the
utmost care. We'll destroy your documents after we've reviewed them.
What happens next?
Please allow three days for us to review your account after we receive
your documents. We'll then contact you via email. Your account will
remain suspended until we receive and review these documents.
As always, our goal is to help you with your questions as quickly and
accurately as possible. If your question has not been answered by this
automated message, please reply directly to this email and we'll be
happy to assist.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your response so we
can resolve this matter as soon as possible.
Regards,
eBay Trust & Safety

I don't get your problem with this. What's the point is them telling you which ID it is? After all, you admit that you did use a second ID to use ebay when your initial account was suspended. Could it be that you are using more than one other account to access ebay and need to check which one they've caught you out on? Either way, you've been caught red handed. You know it. Ebay knows it. Why complain about it on here?
Send them the stuff they want. It will show that you were actually the suspended member using a second account. Do as a previous poster has suggested - argue against the original suspension. If they lift that, you should be ok. It depends what they suspended you for, though. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
