I have just purchased a new HP netbook. Norton is preinstalled on this (trial version) and I have managed to download Microsoft Security but should I have removed norton first?
Also can I have any other anti virus running with the Microsoft Security Essentials and if yes what free software would you recommend?
Thanks

I use AVG
Can't post a link as i'm a new user but if you google 'AVG Free' I'm sure it'll come up!
Have used it for years without any sort of problems or security breaches. I certainly wouldn't bother spending any money on antivirus software. With a little common sense when using the internet there is no reason why AVG or any other reasonable free antivirus software shouldn't meet all your needs!0 -
Just stick with Micorsoft Security Essentials. It's effective, fast, free and light on resources.
Most people ar enot recommending AVG abymore as although it used to be good the more recent versions are a bit resource hungry. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Re MS Security Essentials, I have just installed it on my new netbook. How do you get it to update the virus definitions every day? I installed it on Wed when I got the netbook, but it didn't update until I did it manually just now.
I have it set to scan once a week and check for updates then, but would prefer it to update daily.0
