sat nav with road maps AND cycling maps???

Hi I'm after a sat nav for car use and cycling.

For the car use it must have speed camera warnings

(with update capabilities) - traffic warnings if

pos.

Now on the cycling mode it must have cycling

mapping or off road mapping. A lot of sat navs

have both car mode and cycle mode but don't have

adequate off road mapping which is frustrating!

If there is a good car sat nav with cycle lanes as

well then this would be perfect! But i would

settle for off road mapping if not

Does anyone know of such a device?

Thanks in Advance
Andy

Your a cyclist, but you still speed?

Ditch the speed camera warnings, and obey the speed limits, and stop putting other peoples lives at risk.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Do a Google search for the 'PC Tailor' website
If you search there you will find out how to put Memory Map digital Ordnance Survey mapping on those cheapie GPS units that really run mobile Windows

    thanks for your feedback guys

i've really struggled to find what i was originally looking for, but googling "ps taylor " has put me in a new direction, i'm just sussing out which gps will be able to download the OS maps - cheers dkpool...

I bumped into a cyclin gps which featured cycling maps (maps of dedicated cycling routes, I think) but doesn't do the job of a normal car nav. One device which really caught my eye though was the Road Angel 7000 which does everything i'm looking for but has terrible reviews and has been discontinued - as I am aware there is no other equivalent device, unless someone would like to enlighten me?:)

cit_k, well if you have never done 36 on a 30 before or even ever broke the speed limit, i take your point. For your information i speed on my bicycle as well :rotfl: - i imagine you might well be one of those drivers who travel at 45mph on the motorway squashed betweeen the lorries - you don't happen to wear a flat cap and smoke a pipe do you? :)

I use a 'Navigo' bought from Ebuyer.com several years ago for about £50
They don't sell it any more but if you search on their forum you will find loads of posts about it and other similar GPS units

There's an online cycle map (at http://www.opencyclemap.org/) and I think there's a way to upload the maps/routes onto a GPS handset... I'm not sure whether you could use the routes to create your own car-sat-nav-like map...
