Patio awnings yes or no (good)?

Has anyone had one of these fitted to extend into the garden to make a 'covered' patio. Are there any minuses about them ie do they rot, go rusty, drop off in high wind (!?) :rotfl: Just don't know if they're worth it, do you?

  • I fitted one myself last week - It is great, got it off ebay for £99 and it arrived on time and seems to be the business, not flashy, not covered but does have a winter cover. they are all aluminium and synthetic fabric (and heavy - needs two to fit it). I use it most mornings and have my breakfast outdoors. It has changed the way I live to an extent.
The only caveat I would give is that the sleeve anchors are the pants, I chucked mine and used rawlbolts, you will need an SDS drill too, but if you know what one is then you will understand where I am coming from.

    HTH.

Allways fancied one of these myself.
Hate the sun or should I say I love the shade which is the only way to appreciate the sun in my opinion.

We had one up before we fitted our conservatory and are worth it stopped the sun blasting intothe house and making it hot , make sure you use heavy duty rawbolts and dont have it fully open in windy weather and you should be ok :)

you need to calculate how much shade it will provide and at what times of day.

Some just stop the sun from shining in side the house half the day and are useless for shade outside
