help - need to sell car...

Hi,
I am hoping for some guidance on selling my car. We have recently had a baby so have bought a slightly bigger 4 door car. I didn't trade in our old car, which is a 3 dr Yaris, as, in true MSE style I thought we could get more if we did a private sale. I advertised it in autotrader on their 'web only' offer but we have only had one phone call in a week. We have one more week left on the deal. Do you think it makes much of a difference if you take their web and magazine package (which I didn't because it's more expensive?). I've never sold a car before and I'm getting worried that we might end up stuck with this for weeks!

I always adevrtise in the magazine too. Apparently, more people still read the magazine as opposed to using the internet version.

Other suggestions, which should be done in parallel is to advertise in the following:

    https://www.loot.com
    https://www.gumtree.com
    https://www.pistonheads.co.uk
    https://www.findit.co.uk

    Also, consider using eBay too.

    I sold a car on auto-trader web-only a few weeks back.

First two weeks, only a couple of calls, and neither of them actually turned up.

Second two weeks I dropped the advertised price by £50 and got loads of calls and the first guy that saw it bought it there and then in cash.

    Then e bay seems favourite.

& as last resort, the dealer you bought the new car from will have a number of trade buyers, that he would no doubt have offered it to, before giving you a trade in price. They'll still be reasonably keen, if it's a good spec & mileage etc etc.

    Hi,
The car is an 02 yaris gs 1.0, 3dr, mileage is 22500. I priced it at £3950.
Only one call so far from the autotrader advert and that fell through!! I contacted autotrader to see if I could upgrade to the magazine and web deal...but they said I couldn't!
I reduced the price by £50 today so I'll see if that makes any difference and I will check out the other sites suggested.
    Cheers
