Possible to hurry a 3-4 day electronic transfer?

Due to a couple of bank errors, Alliance and Leicester have been very slow to act upon my instruction to close our joint bank account and transfer the money into my HSBC or send a cheque.

The timing is imperitive as I am emmigrating and I have a job waiting at the other end. Originally had the instruction gone through properly (10 working day allowance as per policy) there would have been plenty of time for me to receive my money, transfer it to my account abroad, get on the plane and start working (workplace cannot be flexible over the start time as it involves children, and there is no supply teacher system over there).

13 working days since the the original instruction, the account has now been closed, (I was not prioritised at any point despite me repeatedly informing them of my situation) and I have been told that I have to wait another 3-4 working days for this to clear into my HSBC account. I asked if there was anyway of them tracing it and prioritsing it and they insisted that there is nothing they can do and all banks cannot prioritse at this stage. I am waiting for a call from the manager (telephone service) to call to confirm this.

Is it true that even though the significant delay is due to bank error (twice!!!), and it is affecting my employment opportunities there is nothing they can do once it is out of my account? Is there someone they can contact ( even the 'middleman') who can go into the electonic system and hurry things?

Thanks

No there isn't. Given the fact its also a weekend tomorrow it will likely not be in the account until Tuesday
