OUCH, this is the price that some are now paying for using the likes of Comparethemarket etc.

A low headline price together with very poor cover and service standards, I avoid them.

Yeah that has the same amount of letters as some of the words he was saying yesterday :rotfl:

I agree - I only use comparison sites as a rough guide and then always go direct for a proper quote with Quidco etc :)

The "Repair" WONT be invisible, itl look just the same, all they do is put a tiny amount of resin in.

The area directly in front of the driver has a limit of 5mm dia of visible repair to be within MOT standard, a good easy check for the area concerned is the width of the steering wheel and top to bottom of the wiper sweep.
The rest of the windscreen has a bigger limit for the visible size of repair.

Most repairs use a vacum/inject method where they first suck out all the air and moisture from the broken/cracked area, this is then injected with a resin solution which hardens in ultra-violet light so that it can never go soft and run out at a later time. The surface pit is the hardest part to repair and usually the bit that is visible afterwards but even this will polish and end up looking like a dull spot on the glass.

The one I got in my last car was definitely visable and it was only for a chip.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Really? Did you repair it yourself with a kit from Halfrauds?

Of course not!! it was an approved Windscreen repairer nominated by my Insurance Company

No doubt your username suggests all the repairs you perform are completely invisible :wall:

Not like the one I had and all the others with experience of repairs in this thread.

You could tell that from my username? That's talent.

I wouldn't want a repair if it was in my direct vision but if it is somewhere obscure at the top or the passenger side I would be happy to get a repair.

^Agreed. You may be lucky and get Glassman to do yours, I was not.

Read the conditions before the repair regarding quality of finish, if you see any quotes or promises of "invisible" repair then I would be surprised

That's the same stuff most of the "pros" use under their little marquee in supermarket car parks. Most of them like to tell people it will be all free on their insurance and many people later get invoices asking for payment. They're first and foremost salesmen, not specialised technicians.
