Hi i am new to posting on the forum and wonder if you could help.
My old boiler is on the way out it is a potterton neat heat 10-16, well thats what is says on the front
I have been recomended a worcester bosch 24ri by a couple of installers and i am a bit confused, as one says that i can just change the boiler, fit a new programmer and thermostat and the other said that i have to put some valves and things upstairs as well and it will cost alot more money. Cost is the main issue so my question is can i just change the boiler i have for another one (24ri) and it work the same as the old one. Thanks in advance, i have followed the forums for a while and seen some good advice given.

Hi
Installers are working to this guide.
I follow best practice.
You, as the one who is paying for this, can do what you like. We are just trying to achieve the best system for your property.(most of us anyway)
If you want to lower your gas consumption then you need to reduce your heat loss. Look to insulate as much as you can.

Hi Sally, first of all, Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will get much more helpful replies from others, but one thing did occur to me...
Is the other one suggesting you put thermostatic valves on your radiators? These are likely to save you money in the long run, as they cut off individual radiators when the room is warm (well actually when the air around the radiator thermostat is warm). You still need a thermostat on the boiler as that's what controls how hot the water getting to the radiators is. At least that's my understanding as "a housewife".
We have the individual thermostats on our radiators, and they seem to work pretty well. Only time we've had probs is when piles of junk has been left too close so no air flow round the individual thermostats.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon and give you better suggestions!
Best wishes, Maggie0
