cars and car salesmen!

It should be possible to beat What Car target price.
You can buy your GAP (make sure it's the return to invoice RTI type) elsewhere probably cheaper and unless you do a really high mileage the inclusive service package will not save you money so don't take it. Pay the servicing yourself as it is required.
You should be able to get that original £162 a month deal.
Regular car insurance will pay out 100% of invoice value in the first year for a total loss so GAP only gives you anything year 2 onwards.0 -
You do not have to put up with a poor salesmen .!!Try other Skoda dealers or as someone else suggested try a broker !! I have used Carfile (ask for Jonathan) they are very helpful and how it works is they will put you in touch with a Skoda dealer who they have a arranged a discount with !! and all monies and are paid to the Skoda dealer !! you still get all benefits of dealing with your local dealer (warranty and servicing , Skoda finance etc)If the dealer is not convenient for you they will even deliver the car to you if you want it.
On my last purchase through them ! the dealer they used even took my part exchange in and gave me the price I had been offered at the local dealership .
If you do go the car broker route some are better than others I found Carfile very good but Dealdrivers were unhelpful to say the least but that is just my opinion0 -
Work out the car you want, not what the dealer wants to sell you
Make enquiries with a couple of brokers and get quotes
Search online for separate GAP cover to see if there are better deals to be had
Ask another dealership for their best offer
.. and if you still want to try the original dealership, do so with others offers in your hand and then see what can be had
It worked for me in a Toyota dealership - they cut their price to compete with an online broker.0 -
I don't know where in the country you are but if you're in Scotland I can recommend Graeme P Chatham Skoda (Dunfermline in my case although there's a branch in Edinburgh too) - although I bought a used Vauxhall from them they get good reviews from those that have purchased Skodas too
As said - try online brokers such as Carfile, DriveTheDeal, etc - some of their prices are outstanding - I saw an Octavia VRS (2.0 TDI 170) for £15999 through them - just wish I could afford it and it wouldn't be the same again for the insurance :rotfl:0
