How much debt?
How much income?
Partner? Debts? Joint Debts?
Home life: Rent/Mortgage? Dependants? Number of people in the house?
Have you done an I&E?(Income and Expenditure and showing how much surplus you have)
An IVA is a good debt solution but it has to suit your situation. These are the types of things people are going to need to know before they could say whether you should be considering one however...
You're probably looking for helpful feedback from people who've been in IVAs and how they felt about it - I cant help you there but many people on here will be able to help. I'll be able to contribute to your other questions though.Would you ask the wolves to look after the sheep?

I can, I am in an IVA
The hardest and scariest thing is facing up to the problem, so well done to you for that
The biggest thing is to be completely honest and open with your Insolvensy practitioner (IP) when you select one. DO NOT pay anyone for advice and help in the beginning, a lot of companies will charge you up front and half the time they will only "introduce" you to an IP
Talking to CCCS is generally a good start, but do not be blinkered by what they say. Talk to a few firms for advice and help
Another forum to have a look through is www.iva.co.uk That is VERY active and as helpful as here
When you think you have an IP in mind, look at www.iva.com they will have reviews of them, so best to see what other people think of your IP
But now you have started the process, take heart and keep going. It will get betterThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
Those that do
Those that dont

We felt the same as you in the beginning but the phone calls stopped, we knew what we had to live on and we now have another 4 payments to go. There really is light at the end of the tunnel and 60 months passes really fast. Just one word of warning do your homework first and use a company that one of the debt counsellors recommend.
Good luckWe finally did it! Debt free 28/6/10 :T  :T :beer:0 -
I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow some cash from some kind inlaws to offer a full and final IVA. This meant I was free from my creditors in 6 months (now paying back my inlaws over 5 years)
The feeling of relief and the phone calls stopping from creditors is worth more than gold.
Its not an easy option though and I will no doubt be living with the consequences of it for some time but I am not overstating when I say it saved my marriage and stopped me heading towards the nut house.
If you do choose to go the IVA way, I can thoroughly recommend McCambridge Duffy.
Lovely people.
Best of luck to you0
