O.K., so I concede that a German may have invented them, but they were c**p until a BRITISH company bought the patent for Doctor Martens, improved them, then sold them like hotcakes! :T

Dr Martens are mostly made in China now..if not all...I am trying to remember when the factory shut or shrunk...too late to google.

Also Burberry is 99% made offshore too and another story
Burberry, which faced a storm of protest two years ago over the closure of a south Wales plant, is now shutting its Rotherham sewing factory, which employs 170 people, as part of a drive to cut costs by £50m a year. Production will shift 20 miles north to another factory in Castleford, where a further 90 jobs are at risk through changes to the production line. Thirty more jobs are at risk at Keighley, West Yorkshire.

But you can by my products :D.....see my avatar......all Made in Leicester, Designed on my sunlounge floor and exported to US and a tiny bit to Aus. and Europe...as well as sold in UK.

Just to add I had a load of samples back from China last week....I mean, you have to try and see :o...and I was not impressed to be honest. I know the agent was chancing on the prices but they managed to get quite a few specs wrong (despite it all being drawn or with an actual sample to follow) and the fabrics weren't the correct weight....which is critical and I specified the weight and gave a sample piece of cloth....which is easily obtainable as a basic.

By the time I had added duty, freight and allowing for the extra time to get to the shop floor.....the extra profit per garment could be lost if it all goes T***s up.
    Just thinking aloud...........

Our video games industry is pretty good afaik, although not so good that it could save Sony Studio Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis), sadly.

In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
