Yup, my advice would be don't go!

If your getting told no by companies it tells you something, your living beyond your means.

You will end up having a bad credit score, not being able to pay back your loans etc etc. A holiday, although sounding nice now, will only make your life worse in the long run based on your financial status now.

You say that you have not had a holiday for 5 years but did you not have a jolly good old time as a student? which is why you are in this mess know.
Basically you can't afford to go - end of story.

If you go for a high interest loan you will pay back a huge amount for a holiday, probably enough to send you on that holiday three times.

Your friend is very nice to lend you money but I would be mortified if I owed a mate money, are you sure you want to be in debt to a friend? what if they have an emergency and need it back urgently?

Come and spend some time on dfw, some of the debt amounts on there are terrifying, and you may well be headed that way.

I know it sucks, but some times you need to forego what you want to make the rest of your life better.

    NHS don't charge for surgery!
Are you trying to tell us that because you were unemployed for 2 months you racked up a £3500 debt with Virgin CC and a bank overdraft of £700 and borrowed £600 from your mother and now you want someone else to fund a grand so that poor old you can go on holiday.
Grow up! Realise now that you cannot get what you want from life unless you have the means to pay for them. The fact that your own bank refused to help and that Capital one have refused you too should be a wake up call - you must realise now that you are hopelessly over committed!

Like everyone else (in their right mind) I'd say don't go. your living outside your means and a holiday is a luxury not a right. And you can very easily get a good holiday for a lot less than £1,000

Unlike most of us you seem to be here to find a way of getting more money rather than saving or solving the problems your in right now.

The only remotley sensible 'get money fast' idea i can think of is a credit card from the post office, they'll give a max £500 but it's for people with poor credit history so you might have a chance.
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

    Hi

This is a money saving site, for people who are after good advice and support on the best ways to get the most from their money/get out of debt.

No one on this site is going to advise you to go and borrow money with the companies that you mention, as it's a stupid idea.

No one is going to advise you to borrow more money for a holiday when your credit rating's already shot by the sounds of it and you are in enough debt to be considering a dmp, because it's a stupid idea.

If you're looking for a holiday, I suggest you get the Sun as they are doing them for £9.50 per person.

Have a think and then take a look at the debt free wanabee boards. There are tons of people who have been there/ done that and know how to help you before things get any worse.

    Take care.

Are you currently working in London? as moving out of the city can be just as expensive once you factor in commuting costs.

If cashflow is a problem, try posting on the DFW board (they are going to ask you for a SOA lol, so be prepared to ask what one of those is :D).

Not including your student loan (which will be paid off at low interest over a period that will suit you), you have about £10k of unsecured debt. I bet they can help you clear this really quickly (and then after that, you'll be able to afford to take yourself off to Barbados on a real holiday).

    Take care.
