Advice - poor carpet fitting service

Hi all - I posted this in the DIY thread but on second thoughts, it might be better suited in this forum:

We've recently had a carpet fitted and the job done was pretty rubbish. We bought the carpet from a fairly large company, and I’m pretty sure the fitters they sent were contractors.

The edges of the carpet weren't fitted flush to the floor, even though we paid for grippers etc. They left quite a mess with the spray glue around the skirting boards which needed scrubbing off. The skirting boards were split in places from where they've been knocking the carpet into the edges. Also, they scratched some paint off of my nice newly painted walls.

We took photos off all the mess and damage and have contacted the companies head office via a form on their website to let them know we would like an email address to send pics of the damage and to detail our complaint. After no response, I have just called the store we bought it from and am awaiting a call back from the manager this afternoon.

The thing is, the paint has been retouched by myself. I don't want the skirting boards replaced as the damage is only noticable if you get really close, and I don't want the upheaval and mess of that after decorating for the last month and finally getting the job done and tidied up.
So aside from asking them to come and sort the edges of the carpet out, which will also be an extra inconvenience having to take time off work to be in - what should I do about it? I'm not a free loader who wants something for nothing, but I don't think they should get away with this service. I’m sure they may fob me off with a discount for next time I use them, but I won’t use them again so that wouldn’t be any use. Should I ask for a part refund, and if I do, what are my rights to getting one? Can anyone give me any other advice on what to do in this situation?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
