Hi Guys
I wonder if one of you teckie savvy guys could help me please
a few days ago my pc started having a warning and shutting down for no reason at all,i ran spyware (spybot and adaware) and it wouldnt shift it and in a moment of anger i thought sod it,so i decided to wipe the lot off and start from scratch(had nothing on the lappy of importance anyway) BUT after reinstalling windows and installing the usb modem software so i can connect to the internet im bombarded with pop ups and adware all the while(as im typing this even),it freezes and i physically have to power down and restart it,i have d/l spybot and adaware and they scan and find stuff, but when i want to remove the probs theyve found they remove a few but says they cant remove everything and it may be removed after a restart,i restart, run them again and they find loads more and so on........when im connected to the internet you can look at a few sites then it jams, you put an address in the address bar and click enter and nothing happens, but if you scroll down with the little arrow at the end of the address bar at the sites youve looked at already before it jammed it goes to them fine....after a complete reinstall why am i receiving all these pop ups and telling me i have fatal errors when ive been connected for about 20 seconds......what can i do...was all the junk that was on here before completelly removed from me doing a reinstall or not.......im not far from smashing the lot against the wall lol....any help at all would be VERY VERY much appreciated

Have you enabled the firewall, and done a https://www.windowsupdate.com ?
Are you using an XP SP2 CD?

https://www.ccleaner.comEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Even formatting and reinstalling windows wont always shift a virus or other nasty what you should of done is relaxed and took the appropriate steps to rid your system of the problems but I know how you felt.
Are you using XP with service packs as some of the pop ups may have been windows messenger service that was running in the background as SP1a solved this problem if not you would of have to have turned messenger off manually http://www.updatexp.com/messenger_service_spam.html
Otherwise I would start by following the malware/spyware sticky at the top of the techie forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269 also you may want to do a HiJack log report aswell.0 -
is that you intel?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

like albertross says, if it's not SP2 then it's those annoying Messenger pop-ups
an update to SP2 will cure that.
if not then hijackthis log pleaseEx forum ambassador

I remember getting this a few years ago. Go into Control panel and open up your services and disable win.messenger.0
