When they finally move in to their student house, don't fortget to make sure that there are fire labels on all those items of furniture that require it (sofa, beds etc). Don't accept "the last students must have taken them off" line. Any problems on this, phone the local councils Environmental Health.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

You would be out of your mind. Your liability extends to your own home."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
I would be very worried.
I let out a flat I used to own to my SiL and three of her friends. They trashed the place and two did a runner leaving me out of pocket. Next year I let it to another bunch of students, one of whom was a law student and was a right pain in the !!!! quoting this and that legislation, rent tribunal, etc. Refused to vacate at end of the year and in the end I had to bribe them to get shot and never again would I let to students."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Very helpful, thank you.
I heard the other day that it costs £200,000 to bring up a child -- and that figure is unquantifiable too.
Maybe everyone should stop having kids because of the financial risk...

If your children are studying in a city where guarantors are the norm for student lets, you have two choices, support your child or let them flounder.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
