  • sorry to be the bearer of bad news....as far as I know, as long as the account exists the association remains.

if she is that stubborn, threaten legal action

Whilst you have a joint account I can't see how you can claim to have no financial association. Can you not close the account on one signature? Or perhaps ask the bank to remove your name from the account?
  • im trying to close the account on one signature, as the terms and conditions say i can, however, the bank website and form says both signatures required. same for removal of my name. somewhat contradictory, i have written sternly to the bank, and will issue legal proceedings if they continue to breach what appears to be their t's and c's (contract). Ive also issued them notice to terminate my agreement with them. I cannot believe i can be forced to stay in an agreement because of a third party, wife or not. As for threatening legal action, what legal action can i take? what crime or offence is being commited?. I do have a court date coming up with her soon so any ideas here would be useful,..Recommendations here in other threads, have said, sever the association by writing to the credit agencies. i thought it odd that it could be severed whilst an account in existance.
  • while the account is open the credit agencies wont sever it.

you say you have a court date, could you bring this up then? If you are going for a divorce, could you have it put in as part of the terms (sorry, not got any experience here...)
