Already popped my letter in the post.I worded it as saying i would like any charges refunded that were taking by me going into an unauthorised overdraft by way of payment made in banks error on a cancelled Avantage Blue.I included my policy for Post Office travel insurance and that was off July 2009.It was only off a 3 day weekender in Amsterdam going to a football tournament. I will keep you upto date with my progress.Your help has been greatly appericated. Thank You.0

Today i recieved a letter regaurding my complaint. In the letter they say that neither the branch or customer service team can trace my cancellation form (I am positive i handed one in as i distinctaly remember being transfered from the cash till to the reception desk to fil the paper work out).As i stated it was called A CHARGE and not Advantage Blue that is how i missed the payments being taken out as i thought they were just a standard charge. They apologiese about the lose of cancellation form and can only put it down to being mislaid and that is not the level of service they expect to provide. They have agreed to refund the 2 years of payments they have taken for the Advantage Blue service but will not refund any unauthourised overdrafts charges due to this. They accept part blame for not cancelling the product but say i should have had funds in my account to cover the charge of the monthly payment for the product. They say it is not possible to account for charges as they dont know when i cancelled and i should have contacted them sooner to question the charges. They do acknowledge that the supscription fee on occasions has taken me overdrawn..But say i am partly to blame for not questioning it sooner.
The thing i dont get is the funds were not there to cover the payments as i didnt know there was a payment being taken as i believed it was CANCELLED. They say if im not happy i can phone them or take it to the Financial Ombudsman. So they have admitted they may have lost or misplaced my cancellation form and will refund 2 years of payments.Since admitting fault to that should i also pursue that i would like any charges due to payments being taken in them 2 years to also be refunded ? I think they should,What would the bank/Ombudsman think ? Would they agree that just the fees returned is reasonable or would they agree that any charges should also be returned ? Nowhere in the letter does it say it is a goodwill gesture but what they think is fair,So they must take some responsibility for this situation.Baring in mind the charges are probably more than the refund.0 -

Next thing you have to do is to go back two years to the point you believe you cancelled the advantage blue. If the account was in credit by more than £6.95 then you may stand a chance on those unarranged overdraft on the basis that bank error was the cause of the overdrawn.
I think you need to accept 2 years charges but to query their reasoning with regards to why they are saying you should have had the money in the account if they are refunding charges of almost £168.00....would that have made a difference to having the money in the account?
Ask them for a final response on that specific issue unless your account is now back in credit and you are happy to accept £168.00 to finalise the complaint0 -
It wasnt constantly taking me overdrawn as there was times when there was funds to cover it but on the occasions it did take me overdrawn i think it is only right that i should be refunded.I cannot get statment information off 2 years ago to find out as i bank on-line and i dont think you can go back that far and of course the £168 would have made a differance to my account balance as i dont have an overdraft facility of any kind on my account. So it would have put me well in credit.0

By cover it i just mean funds in my account. They werent to cover Avantage Blue payments. It was just there.0

I cannot get statment information off 2 years ago to find out as i bank on-line and i dont think you can go back that far.
As from 16th August 2008 you can now view statements on-line back to October 5th 2002.
Quick guide:- (1) Log into NatWest online banking,
- (2) Go to statements on the right hand side and click on that,
- (3) then on the drop down menu it says "historic transactions" then you need to choose dates not more than 12 months, ie 5th October 2002 until 4th October 2003, etc, etc,.

Cheers for that.I just checked.I thought you could only go back 6 months
Checked my statments and 12 times i have been hit with an overdraft charge solely down to this payment being taken and me not relising. So i think they should at least refund the unauthorised charges on them 12 as i wasnt overdrawn until this payment was taken when it shouldnt have been. I dont even know why i had the product as it was no use to me.Why would an advisor,Advise you to take out a product that is uesless to you.Surely that is wrong.I cannot even remember if or where i signed for it.0 -
Well just spoke to an advisor who has noted that i have appealed about the inclusion of overdraft to the claim. They was at least 7 times when i entered an overdraft and incurred charges SOLEY down to the fee for Advantage Blue being taken over the period of 2 years which they have agreed to refund.10 days and see if it is the reply i would like.
Thanks again for your help.0
