Returning Faulty Item Without Receipt

Just after Christmas I ordered a new freeview recorder for £160 from Tesco Direct. It arrived and was set up however yesterday it stopped working completely. It should be under the Tesco 1 year electrical items guarantee but I have searched and cannot find the receipt. I haven't yet phnoed customer services or taken it into a store but just wondered where I stand rights wise. As it was ordered through Tesco Direct they should have some record of my purchase? But is this enough or am I out of luck?

It should be enough that they can find your sale, though I'm not sure whether legally this would be enough.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

You only need proof of purchase, and as a shop doesn't have to give you a receipt, you can use a bank statement showing the money was paid from your account to Tesco Direct.

Hopefully this will be of some use!*insert witty comment here*0 -
If you have lost your receipt, go into your account online, find the order and click to request a VAT receipt. They arrive within a few days. We did that with a laptop, and got a refund, no problem.0

Thanks for the advice, am now desperately searching for a bank statement before heading back to the store, Hopefully they will be able to track my order and all will be well.0

Did you order it online (sounds like you did)?
Just Log In to your account and look at your history, the order details will be there
