Hi
We are a bit confused about how much money my son should receive for his Maintenance grant.
ok, he lives at home with me (mother). I am on income support and I receive DLA as well, I also qualify for council tax benefit.
My son does not earn any other income apart from careres allowance for me.
He started his UNI course in 2005.
From reading the guide to financial support for higher education students it looks like he should receive the full grant of £2906.00 as he started his course before September 2008. He has been informed that he is only entitled to £1000.
Is the £1000 correct or have we missed something in filling in the forms, please?

£1000 Higher Education grant is correct, as he is an old style student and therefore not on top-up fees.0

I forgot to add that his first course was HND and then they asked him if he would like to continue on the BSc course and he said yes.
Would this not make him ellegible as his Bsc course started in september 2009?
Thanks for your replyWow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

No, as he would then be an end-on student.0
