How to email my photos via Gmail?

I no longer use MS Outlook to send Emails. I was with Virgin but stopped the service last month. I uploaded my photos to my Docs' and when I try to forward by email, up pops Outlook and I can't send them.

How do I have Gmail as my default email ?

Any advice most welcomed as I've been trying for several hours to get this sorted.

In Gmail below the subject bar you'll see attach file (paper clip).
Instead of using outlook just open Gmail first and do every thing from there.

If my grandson was home, he could have told me. He normally gives me a look of disbelief at my complete lack of PC knowledge when I ask for advice:o

If you use Google`s Gmail notifier it sets gmail as the default mail client. So when you click on a mailto: link Gmail will open instead of Outlook. It also notifies you as new mail arrives with a handy Outlook style pop up.

picasa is free and simple to send pics, part of google group , on google home page , just click abouy google and cvlick on list of tools ,have used for years to email pics w'wide.
