Transfering Photos to Laptop

I have a Kodak Easyshare camera which is now some years old but has done very well. It originally had a disc to down load the software onto my computer. I have now moved and bought a new laptop but have mislaid the disc in the move.
How can I download the photos from the camera to the laptop without this disc. I only really use it to sell things on Ebay so doesnt need to be to technical.
Is there free software on the net any where?
I am sure I am being awfully thick about this but am reluctant to buy a new camera when this one works so well.
p.s. I have the cable thing that you attach the camera to the computer with but my old computer was a desk top does this matter?

Attach camera to laptop with cable and windows should recognise said camera and instal drivers.
When you next attach camera to laptop you should get a pop up asking if you want to transfer the pictures from camera to laptop.0 -
Cant believe it is that easy. Have tried it and it does seem to work. Will try again when I have some photos to transfer. Thanks so much for your help.
