Science Museum

Hi guys!
I wonder if you can help me. Me and OH are hoping to go to the science museum this weekend.
I know that the museum it self is free but I was wondering if any of the attractions you pay for are actually worth the money? The i-max movies are £8 per person! Or you can pay for an I-max movie and something called Force Field for £11 each.
Has anyone been to any of these? Are they worth the money?
Also I'm a bit weary of the fact it is half term! So I'm guessing it will be pretty busy!

As its so miserable weather wise , should think that the Museums are fairly busy, but might well be better at w/e rather than during the week.
If its really heaving , be flexible and move next door , or down the street Or round the corner.... the advantages of having so many museums so close.
I never pay for the extra's , although the Wallace and Grommet looked good.
Ps will be a Grumpy Old man ... the science museum was far better in the past , without all the high tech stuff. You now have to search for the 'buttons ' and the small brass handles.0 -
I have not done but there is loads to do without forking out for this. I am not sure whether I could be bothered paying for the IMAX as 3D is more available now (though IMAX is different in terms of screen).
If you want to do, book as soon as you get there as it will sell out quick
Weekends are always busy - I imagine it would be no worse than normal. Get there early - mid morning on Sundays can be horrific - especially around the entrance/cafe areas.0 -

My son and my husband treated me to the Wallace and Gromit exhibition for my birthday (ahem), they both enjoyed it but I would rather have watched paint dry tbh. (Even worse it was actually a freebie -though looking back, I would have been annoyed if I had paid to go in as it would not have been worth it).0 -
Quote My son/husband ...enjoyed it...it was a boys thing

We love the Science Museum!! We did pay for the Imax, but it was a Christmas treat for the daughter. It is great, but I'm not sure we'd bother again cos I think it's pretty pricey for what it is. Depends on the film you see I guess, I really fancied the under the sea one, but ended up watching something about the international space station!0

Sorry for not responded, have only just managed to get back on t'internet!
Thanks for all your helpful posts! I'm not sure if I will pay for the I-max as I have seen a few 3D films and am not sure how this one will be so much better!
I know this weekend will be so busy but it's the only weekend we can really go! Will have to get there really early I guess!
Thanks again!!0 -
We did pay to see the I MAX film (Space Station) for three adults, and it was amazing, I loved it and don't regret it, but that was before 3D was in the cinema for general release. £8 is a bit much probably. Plenty to see and do without making it a costly day out. Lot of walking about though in these big museums so plan your breaks well! (saves irritable offspring adn OH!)
