to come and do a repair (eg 8am-1pm) and they don't come in that slot, are you entitled to something?
BG came to "fix" our boiler on Tuesday (we called them Saturday morning) couldn't fix it so ordered the part, came yesterday (2nd day I had to take time off work) "fixed" the boiler, where it worked for 4 hours before conking out again.
We called them at 8.30 last night and the guy on the phone clearly said between 8am & 1pm today, so I booked another morning off work. At 1.30pm, I phoned to find out where he was to be told it was an all day appointment and they are running behind because of the weather (we've had snowfalls but it hasn't stuck) They clearly said last night, between 8am-1pm and I've had to phone my boss and take the afternoon off as well - clearly he's not happy.
My annoyance is having to use 3 days of my holiday and they don't even have the decency to stick to what they said. I'd already booked a day off on Monday but for the rest of the week i've done a half day at work so far!!! It's just not on really.
Any advice?

It's certainly annoying.
You ask if you're 'entitled to something'. I assume you mean compensation. Can you demonstrate you're out of pocket? If not, what would you like to be compensated for?
I assume that you can calculate how much your 3 days' leave 'costs'. Perhaps you could try passing them a bill? Or perhaps you could ask for an ex gratia payment for inconvenience? How much would you want? £10? £100? £1,000,000?
Compensation can be difficult if you can't point to any financial hardship. And what about your boss? You mention he's not happy. Who is he not happy with? You? That would hardly seem fair; it's not something you have any control over. Maybe he's annoyed with BG... perhaps your compensation could be a letter of apology from BG to your boss....

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. TBH reading your response, i'm really not sure what i'd want. It's just dammned annoying. Oh and it's now 10 past 4 and theres still no sign of them. I think the afternoon slots are 1pm-6pm. It took him 2.5 hours to "fix" yesterday so i'm not even sure they'll be able to do anything today now and I can't take another day off tomorrow.
Plus the small matter that we've now been without any heating or hot water for 6 days. The house is currently 10degrees and has been since Saturday when we first reported it to them
Oh and I guess the boss can't be too unhappy. It's his house we rent!

??? Your boss is annoyed because you've had to take time off to sort out a boiler problem in his house...???!

Ask your boss to sit in his house and wait for the repair guys while you go to work. He can't have it all ways, he either lets you have the time off or he takes the time off himself seeing as he is the landlord!0

I would say you're entitled to an apologySquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
